How to create an aquarium from the trash containers ?

Do you have any see through containers ? Do you know you can make wonderful aquariums with them ?All you need is some used see through plastic bowels, some amount of clay and stone chips, some aquatic plant and a handful of guppies or carps to create your very own "container aquariums".

Instructions :

Collect some plastic containers which is see through i.e. one can see what is kept inside of 12-32 cm diameter.

Now place some amount of clay, stone chips and some sand stones upto 1/3rd of the container to create an ambiance for the fish population.

The next step is to plant one or two aquatic plants like amazonia sp. in the see through bowels.

Release a shoal of guppies or black/white carps in the container.

Your aquarium is now ready for display. If you want to be more creative you can apply some designs or colour on a small portion of the container so that is attracts the attention of your guests.

Follow the above steps to create more such aquariums and place them on your table or any where you like.

Caring for the fish population

Fish kept in such containers will be unable to get any food if you dont give them. But as the depth of the bowel is small, aeration of water for oxygen can be avoided. Also lights of heat supply is not required because the container will easily use the heat availble in the room. But still you must take care of the following points :

Remember to feed your fish two times a day and change the water every three months.

Also apply a drop or two of disinfectant so that your fish doesn't contaminate viral diseases.

As the aquariums are small(containers will have a radius of maximum 30-32 cm) you can only allow small fishes in your aquarium.Gold fish or sharks are not very suitable for such aquariums. Both of this type of fish needs big space due to its body size and running space. That is why, you can have only one or two such kind of fish in such kind of aquarium. But in case of small fish like guppies or carps no such constraint is applicable due to their small body size.Even then also releasing more than 12-15 fishes of such kind are not recommended.

Even though size is a big constraint of such types of aquariums but these can become a great tool to enhance your beauty of the room and can mesmerize your visitors if you can arrange them creatively.

As we all know such containers are generally thrown out after using them for one time. But if you can follow the above steps it may convert this waste into an object of desire.
